Jessica Stoops

Licensed Professional Counselor

Navigating the challenges of life can be incredibly demanding, and I wholeheartedly recognize the courage and vulnerability it takes to reach out for help. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of sitting with truly remarkable humans who come into my office and let down their guard to share their authentic emotions and experiences. It's remarkable that in the world outside my office, these individuals often seem to present with flawless life and to "have it all". Yet, in my office, they reveal the emotions they've felt compelled to conceal in their pursuit of seeming "enough."

It has been an immense honor for me to sit with these extraordinary individuals, witnessing their personal growth and transformation as they begin to truly believe and feel that they are enough. As Ram Dass stated, "We are all just walking each other home," and it is a true privilege to be a part of someone's journey as they rediscover or discover for the first time who they truly are.

Many of the individuals who come to me are exceptionally hard working and accomplished in various aspects of their life. Often they look like they have it all together on the outside. However, despite their outward appearances, they grapple with a profound sense of being misunderstood in their emotional struggles, coping difficulties, and the heavy burden of memories that make them feel inadequate. For some, years of relentless striving have led them to a point where they can no longer "numb" or "avoid" their emotions. They desire a life that's truly worth living, to feel a profound sense of self-worth, and to create space for slowing down and experiencing a genuine sense of who they are and who they want to become.

While my primary therapeutic approach is rooted in psychodynamic therapy, I am well-versed in a diverse range of therapeutic methods, allowing me to uniquely serve those who come to see me. My commitment is to fully understand you and your complete story, not just fragments of your experience. I collaborate with my clients to help them find meaningful change and help them create a fulfilling life where they feel deeply connected, truly understood, and genuinely worthy.

As Dr. Roy Barness says, "Someone once asked me why we [therapists] do this for a living. Because to us, to do anything else would not be living. For who else is granted the sacred gift of tending to another person’s tattered and broken soul? Who else is called as witness to discover the depth and beauty of a person, when they or others can no longer see? Who else is called to listen to all that has been left unsaid, seeking voice? Who else is called to become entangled in the story so that a new story can be written? And who else discovers their own soul, when they have touched the soul of another? Why do we do this for a living? How can we not?"

I consider it an honor to stand alongside such exceptional individuals on their journey, and I hope to meet you and learn more about who you truly are.
